5.12.16 :: The Day After

Well, we made it through the first day after the diagnosis. It felt good to move in the direction of treatment.

She had another procedure today for a lumbar puncture with the first treatment to begin then. G saw her off at the OR and it was me who was going to meet her in the recovery room.

Before I left to meet her, G warned me, “Just know that she’s going to be cranky today.” With that in mind, I slowly approached her bed with caution only to discover her munching on her favorite popsicle and of course, watching “Frozen.” She was relaxed and actually couldn’t be bothered. 🙂 We were so blessed that she was in such great spirits today!

They took out her chest tube today which also helped immensely with her mood. She was in bed for most of the day yesterday, so to be unattached to that tube, and generally out of bed and out of her room definitely affected her spirits. She was ready to be up and about.

We took a little spin around the ward and she happily complied with her now mandatory mask that she must wear. She didn’t even groan when we put it on her.

Grumma came to visit us for dinner and we belted out some toddler faves.

It was a tough day yesterday. Easier today. Tomorrow might be 50/50. We just don’t know what we’re going to get on this journey, but we stay grounded in faith and the love and support that surrounds us.

  1. Samar,

    You are in our prayers and thoughts!!

    We think of you often.

    As we’ve experienced before, the Doctors are brilliant and prayer is answered in many ways.

    God Bless you all.
